August 11, 2021

Cortland and Tompkins Counties, New York — August 11, 2021 The Child Development Council is pleased to announce the successful hiring of Melissa Perry as its next Chief Executive Officer.

After conducting a national search, Perry was selected from a competitive pool of candidates. Perry will succeed Sue Dale-Hall, who is retiring in August after nearly 30 years leading the organization.

Perry first joined the Child Development Council in 2017 and is the current Family Services Director. Since then, she has strengthened the team, expanded programming, amplified the impact of our services, and been successful in supporting the financial wellbeing of the organization.

“The board is excited to work with Melissa as our new CEO and confident that the Council will be well positioned under her guidance to thrive in years to come,” Board President Taisha Dickerson said.

Perry will lead with intention and integrity to promote the vitality of the organization and ensure strategic implementation of services to strengthen families, child care providers, and the community.

“I am so honored to lead the Child Development Council into this new chapter!” Perry said. “I’m excited to continue the great work of my predecessors and ensure the Council remains a pillar of knowledge and support for young children and those who care for them in Cortland and Tompkins Counties. Through innovative strategies and strong partnerships, we will create a community where all children have what they need to grow up happy, healthy, resilient, ready to learn and do good in the world.”
