Cavity Free Kids

Child Development Council has been training child care providers on the use of the Cavity Free Kids curriculum since 2014. Cavity Free Kids is a research-based and developmentally appropriate curriculum that teaches children and parents about oral health and lifelong healthy habits.  In 2016 we received a grant to provide training and support services for Cavity Free Kids.  As part of a regional hub model, the Cavity Free Kids (CFK) grant supports all Cavity Free Kids training and expansion activities in CNY counties – Cortland, Tompkins, Onondaga, Madison, Herkimer, and Oneida – we are able to expand CFK capacity and sustainability in CNY by creating CFK master trainers as well as being an information, referral and resource center for the region.
One collaboration is with Head Start and Head Start educators as they already are committed to improving the dental health for children. This would allow us at the Council to collaborate with agencies, community centers, pre-schools, and health educators throughout numerous CNY regions.
