Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Types of Regulated Child Care in New York State If you are looking for information on healthy eating, feeding finicky eaters, or just need some financial support to offer a cornucopia of foods, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) program can help! CACFP is a federal program that provides reimbursements to participating child care providers for nutritious meals and snacks served to eligible children in their care. Participating in CACFP not only helps you to pay for the food you serve, it assures parents that you serve nutritious and safely prepared meals and snacks.

The Child Development Council enrolls and processes claims for CACFP on behalf of home child care programs in Tompkins and Cortland Counties. Family and group family child care providers, and legally exempt providers. Participation in CACFP is voluntary. CACFP is there to benefit your program and reduce your costs. Required training and other resources are provided free of cost.

Watch “Enroll in CACFP Today,” a short promotional video to hear a discussion with a NY-based child care provider about the benefits of CACFP and or read the NY Department of Health brochure, “Good Nutrition Pays in Day Care Homes” to learn more.

Providers may call our CACFP Specialists at 273-0259 or send an email for more information on program guidelines and how to enroll.
