The Child Development Council would like to invite young children and their families to Kidsville on Saturday, April 22nd from 10 am – 1 pm in the Cortland Grange Building Auditorium, 100 Grange Place. Kidsville is a free children’s fair which will take place during the Week of the Young Child. There will be approximately 25 stations to visit, hosted by early childhood programs and community organizations. Each will provide hands-on fun and information about a variety of topics important to families. Also, Nate the Great returns for juggling fun.
The theme for Kidsville this year is Earth Day. There will be all kinds of creative and fun activities which may include: seed planting, coloring, painting, puppets, pinwheels and sun catchers, collage, sensory games, reading, juggling, music, dance, etc. Some of the community agencies involved are: Cortland SUNY Child Care Center and college students from various classes, YWCA Programs, Access to Independence, Children’s Museum, Family Reading Partnership. Also available will be information and activities related to dental health (Seven Valleys Health Coalition), pedestrian safety (Cortland County Health Department- Tiny Town), fire and personal safety (City of Cortland Fire Department), health insurance and planning for the future (Fidelis Care, Total Care, Southern Tier Independence Center- Navigation for NYS Marketplace, NY 529 College Savings Program).
At the Child Development Council station you can even participate in creating an original piece of art to benefit the Cortland Child Care Scholarship Fund. So bring the kids to Kidsville on Saturday, where Cortland County comes together with hands-on fun and information for children and their families.
