The Development of Gender Identity: Creating Safe & Affirming Spaces for All Children

Educators from Planned Parenthood will discuss creating safe & affirming spaces for transgender and gender non-conforming children and share specific tools to make your classroom and youth space safe and affirming for all children.

Hands On Activities to Keep Kids Engaged and Learning

Deborah Fitzgerald from Cub Care Children’s Center, Vestal, NY will share activity ideas that allow children to explore new materials, encourage problem solving skills and develop persistence.

Creating a Culture of Inclusion and Kindness: Preventing & Responding to Unkind Behavior

Celia Clement from the Ithaca City School District will share resources and strategies to support at-risk students, increase kind behaviors & respond to hurtful ones in an informed and compassionate manner.

Discipline and the School Age Child

Deborah Fitzgerald from Cub Care Children’s  Center, Vestal, NY  will focus on Six Steps to improve your effectiveness in changing from a “Reactionary Discipline” approach to using “Positive Guidance Techniques” and helping children become part of the solution.

Nancy Dickerson LCSW, Cortland, NY will discuss what helps and what hinders a child’s chance of adult success in education, work and relationships.
